Frequently asked questions

How did I come up with this idea?

Approximately 25 years ago I saw some outdoor sculptures in Wichita, Kansas made out of chrome car bumpers.  I thought at the time, that a person could do indoor sculptures out of flatware, but I didn’t have the knowledge on welding. Eventually, I did get trained in welding and in January 2004 I made my first sculpture, a running dog.

How do I get my ideas on what to sculpt next?

From different people, every day life, and things I see.  I like to express action and/or attitude.

Can I use your wedding silverware and make you something?

Not at this time.  I use a mig welder with stainless steel wire.  The silverware is metal with a thin coat of silver on it.  The silver has a lower melting temperature than the stainless wire I use in my welder.  This results in splattering silver all over the sculpture.

Will I make something special for you, like your dog or your favorite animal?

Yes, I have made several pieces that way. The lion was a request. Contact me and we can discuss it.
